Availability follows kidding seasons, development, health, testing, and herd-retention decisions. We do not promise constant inventory, and registration eligibility alone does not determine whether a goat is offered as breeding quality.
What We Evaluate
We consider feet and legs, topline, body capacity, udder or reproductive structure, dairy character, growth, health, disposition, maternal performance, and fit with our breeding goals.
The Dos Lobos Breeding Goals
While many of the breeding programs out there for Nigerians and other dairy breeds in general focus heavily on show-quality animals or milk production performance programs, we're considerably more simple than that. We simply want a useful milk goat with good production, good milk stand manners, kids easily, dams that raise their own kids through to weaning, and perform well on forage. We also prefer a meatier goat as we keep several wethers for our own freezer each year, so a goat that is balanced well for both milk and meat is our desire for our farm. In short, we are a homestead-focused program.
What a Listing Should Explain
Listings may include identity, birth date, sex, registration status, pedigree, color, horn status, health information, testing, freshening or kidding history, price, and known limitations. Verify what documentation accompanies the individual goat.
Reservations and Transport
Read deposit, payment, pickup, transfer, health-paperwork, and transport terms before committing. Buyers need appropriate companions, shelter, fencing, feed, minerals, and local veterinary resources before bringing goats home.
