At Dos Lobos Ranch, our livestock program is built around function, temperament, productivity, longevity, and real-world usefulness.

We raise heritage livestock for pasture-based farms, homesteads, ranches, and families who want animals with purpose — not just pretty animals on paper.

Whether you are looking for registered Kunekune pigs, Dexter cattle, Nigerian Dwarf goats, or future working Australian Shepherds, our goal is the same: produce animals that can thrive, perform, and contribute to a practical farm system.

Dos Lobos Genetics

Our breeding philosophy is simple: beautiful animals are nice, but functional animals are essential.

We select for livestock that are structurally sound, productive, calm, hardy, useful, and suited for pasture-based management. If an animal cannot thrive in a real farm system, it does not belong in our breeding program.

And when nature makes mistakes? Those mistakes still need to be edible, palatable, and useful.

Each species on our farm has a different purpose, but all of our breeding programs share the same foundation: practical animals, transparent records, good temperaments, and long-term improvement.

Available Livestock

Breeding stock availability changes by season, breeding schedule, litter quality, and which animals meet our standards.

Not every animal born here is sold as breeding stock. Some animals are retained, some are sold as feeders, some are placed as pets or production animals, and some go into our own meat program.

What We Select For

Our livestock are not selected for one trait alone. We look for complete animals that can perform in a real pasture-based farm system.

AKKPS Registered Kunekune Pigs

Our Kunekune pigs are the heart of our pork and breeding stock program. We raise AKKPS registered Kunekunes selected for more than color, wattles, or cuteness.

We focus on structure, teat count, mothering ability, growth, temperament, pasture suitability, and pork quality. Our breeding goals include producing Kunekunes that are practical for homesteads and farms while still producing rich, flavorful pork.

ADCA Registered Dexter Cattle

Our Dexter cattle are moderate-framed heritage cattle selected to thrive in a grass-based regenerative grazing system.

We are not chasing the biggest cattle possible. We are building a herd of practical Dexters that can raise quality calves, stay sound, remain calm, efficiently convert forage, and produce exceptional grass-finished beef.

• Grass-fed and grass-finished Dexter beef.
• Moderate-framed cattle suited for small acreage and rotational grazing.
• Selection for tenderness genetics and eating quality.
• Focus on temperament, maternal ability, structure, and longevity.
• ADCA registered cattle when applicable.

ADGA Registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Our Nigerian Dwarf goats are a smaller part of the farm, but they still have a purpose. We keep goats for milk, meat, herd diversity, brush management, and occasional breeding stock.

We select for goats that are gentle, practical, productive, and capable of raising their kids without unnecessary drama. A dairy goat should be useful, manageable, and pleasant to live with.

While we are not a DHIA performance herd, we expect our goats to give a reasonable amount of milk daily and select for good yield and udder function.

• Selected for temperament and milk stand manners.
• Focus on functional udders and milk production.
• Dams raise their own kids.
• Pedigrees may include milk stars and strong dairy lines.
• Animals placed as breeding stock or family milk goats when appropriate.

AKC & ASCA Working Australian Shepherds

Our Australian Shepherds are part of the daily rhythm of the ranch. They help with livestock, simplify stock handling, move animals, and keep the farm running when most days are a one-person show.

Our future working Aussie program will focus on dogs that are biddable, intelligent, stock-aware, structurally sound, and capable of turning off in the house after a day of farm work.

We believe the working Australian Shepherd should remain what it was meant to be: a versatile, useful, family-friendly ranch dog with instinct, brains, and heart.

Some of our livestock are registered through breed organizations. Registry platforms may require you to manually enter our member number or search by farm name.

Does Dos Lobos Ranch sell breeding stock?

Yes. We sell selected breeding stock when animals meet our standards for structure, temperament, productivity, and suitability for the buyer’s goals.

Do you sell registered Kunekune pigs?

Yes. We raise AKKPS registered Kunekune pigs and offer breeding-quality piglets when available.

Do you sell every piglet as breeding stock?

No. Not every piglet should become breeding stock. Some are sold as feeders, or production animals depending on quality, structure, teat count, temperament, and overall suitability.  We prefer to refer you to other breeders focused on pet Kunekunes if that is what you are seeking as we produce the pork type (very large) Kunekunes.

Do you sell Dexter cattle?

Occasionally. Dexter cattle availability is limited and depends on herd needs, breeding plans, calf quality, and whether an animal fits our long-term program.

Can new homesteaders buy livestock from you?

Yes, but we want animals placed in homes where they will be managed responsibly. We are happy to help serious buyers understand what each species needs before purchasing.
